Our speakers were Jon Faris, Managing Director and Michael Halberstam, Artistic Director of Writers Theatre in Glencoe. Jon managed the design and construction of the state-of-the-art theater center designed by the internationally renowned architect and MacArthur Fellow recipient Jeanne Gang of Studio Gang Architects. Michael Halberstam is also the co-founder of the theater. He has directed over thirty-five productions for the company and has appeared in numerous Writers Theatre productions. Jon and Michael shared about the growth of the theater to over 5700 current subscribers and a budget over $6 million. They discussed how they balance art and business and how this has been managed with their structure, They also shared about the state if live theater and how there is much more competition with streaming services and other content availability.
