President Ghida Neukirch welcomed our guests, Margaret Vena, Michael Restco and fellow Rotarian Tom Zengeler. Our guests led us in the Pledge of Allegiance, and the members present recited the Four Way Test.
Ghida reminded the club of our next community service project will be volunteering at the HP Fine Arts Festival on Saturday June 22nd from 9:45 a.m. to noon. A sign up sheet was available at the check-in table, Please see Ghida if you'd like to volunteer.
Ramesh Kanapareddy, PE, CRM, City of Highland Park Director of Public Works provided an overview of the City’s capital plan and investment infrastructure. He gave an update on the department’s responsibilities which include oversight of public roads, forestry, water, sewer, the Water Treatment Plant and other public works areas. He also discussed the collaboration between the City and other jurisdictions such as the Illinois Department of Transportation which has oversight of Rt. 41 and Sheridan Road, and Lake County DOT which owns and manages Lake Cook Road. Rotarians asked questions including inquiries about new private developments such as Capital Senior Housing, Curt’s Café, Albion-Jacobs development and others.
