This bulletin looks different! Hi Everyone. It's been a while, hasn't it? With things becoming the new normal during this time, today's meeting was spent discussing how this pandemic has affected our businesses, ourselves, non-profits and people within our community. We are resuming weekly meetings with Zoom during this pandemic. Seeing each other, even if we can't meet in person, is uplifting. These days, virtual meetings are a lifeline to life outside our four walls. At our Virtual Happy Hour last week, we got to see many members. Everyone looked well and most of us are in need of a hair cut. But the best part of the evening was seeing Burt and Carole Schmarak! Burt looks and sounds great. We're so glad he's out of the hospital and back home. One question we are asking our members, is there a member who is in need of anything? If so, please reply to this email. Now for some meeting notes: Our Club's response to COVID-19: Our Club has donated approximately $10,000 to Moraine Township Food Pantry and Family Service of Lake County. Grants are also available to non-profit organizations serving Highland Park and Highwood who are providing direct services to residents. Organizations can apply by emailing HPHWrotary@gmail.com with their organization name, service offered to Highland Park/Highwood residents, number of individuals served, impacts from COVID-19 and funding request. Grants will be determined as applications are received. Lastly, we discussed ideas for speakers; for now, we will be focusing on how our local non-profits and businesses are meeting the challenges they face. |
