VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!
to sort donations to Northwood Gives Back at the school on Friday, December 9, from 3:30 to 8:00. We are envisioning 2 hour shifts, but lesser commitments are welcome.  We also are looking for volunteer drivers on Saturday, December 10, to deliver the sorted goods to 4 families. Each volunteer will be paired with an Interact member who will do the "leg work". Times can be arranged.

Both of these activities will involve the Interact Club. It is your chance to work side by side with this amazing group of teens.

Volunteers should contact Len Tenner at 847-421-5329 or lrtenner@yahoo.com.

Also...
The 112 Education Foundation is seeking a volunteer for the Robotics Tournament on Saturday December 17th from 8:00AM until 2:00PM at Northwood Middle School.  There will be over 200 4th through 8th grade students competing in programming small robots to achieve predetermined tasks.  You will be amazed watching our community’s kids with their knowledge, teamwork, and problem solving skills.  The volunteer will serve as a referee.  You do not need to know anything about robotics.  The only requirements are to stand near a table and observe the robot and enter information into an iPad.

Please contact Eric Ephraim eephraim@firstbankchicago.com if you are interested.”

He also gave us his weekly (and final football) report about his younger son (a college freshman) continues to be the starting receiver for his Oberlin football (frosh and soph) team who ended the season 0-10. Eric is excited to both boys home for Thanksgiving! Len Tenner was happy to welcome our visitors and speaker! Dale Mugler was once again impressed with the Interact students tutoring (and bearing food) at the Rec Center this week.  Karen Dennis was happy MYA will be performing a Christmas Concert at Bennett Gordon Hall on Sunday, December 11th at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Tickets are free, but you must reserve your seat! mya.org/upcomingevents . The Day's Program
Today we welcomed DG Bill Kmiecik who is from the Arlington Heights Club. He shared with us his experiences on international service projects. His most poignant statement was: "When we go out to change the world, sometimes the world changes us", which is a variation of this quote:

"But I have found that the only thing one can be sure of changing is oneself. I wanted to change the world, but I have found that the only thing one can be sure of changing is oneself."
        —Author Aldous Huxley

We missed those of you who couldn't make it - we hope to see you soon!
